FACT Accreditation Scheme
Who we are
FACT is a private limited company formed in 1983 specifically to combat audio-visual piracy is a non-profit company – all income is spent on anti-piracy and content protection activities.
The Scheme
The Fact Accreditation Scheme is administered by FACT on behalf of its members. Businesses wishing to provide services to the audio-visual industry must satisfy members they have sufficiently high levels of security in order to safeguard the intellectual property rights of FACT members. The best way a company can show it has the necessary security requirements is by becoming a company accredited by FACT.
How it works
Once an application is received a FACT representative will make contact to visit the site (or sites) and carry out an inspection of the premises. Companies which meet the proscribed security levels are accredited for a period of twelve months from inspection. A further inspection takes place each year to renew the accreditation and FACT also reserves the right to make unannounced visits throughout the year.
The survey
The main points of the security survey are:
* Physical security of the building.
* Alarm systems (Red Care or equivalent standard).
* CCTV Systems (30 day storage of images).
* Access Control Systems.
* Digital Security.
* Audit trails.
* Access control systems.
* Staff vetting and training.
* System for visitors.
This above list is not exhaustive and is tailored to the type of business carried out. Security has to be commensurate with the risk to the product.
Additional information such as ISO registration or membership of Trade organisations will be taken into account.
The Accreditation Fee for UK sites is £1500 (£1762.50 inc VAT) payable on an annual basis. For sites outside UK the fee is £1500 plus travel costs and accommodation for the FACT Accreditation Manager.
Benefits of being FACT accredited
• Companies who join the scheme will be issued with a FACT Certificate of Accreditation showing the company name, services offered, accreditation number and expiry date for display at its premises.
• The company is entitled to use the FACT'logo on any marketing material and its website.
• The company name and category of business will also be added to the FACT website as part of a searchable database, together with a link to the company’s website.
• A full list of accredited companies is circulated to our Members every month.
