Assistant Finance Manager

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Assistant Finance Manager to join our growing company. You will play a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of our organisation and help in developing the long-term business plans.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Assisting the Finance Manager with managing all aspects of the Finance activities of the business
  • Ensure that all month end tasks are completed on a timely basis
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations and journals prepared by the team
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and review with the Finance Manager
  • Prepare financial information for the board report
  • Responsible for managing the fixed assets register on Sage
  • Prepare VAT and submit VAT Returns
  • Prepare information for ONS surveys
  • Manage the company’s funds, ensuring that there are enough funds to meet our financial obligations
  • Accounting for employee’s currency advance requests and reconciling with actual expense incurred
  • Develop and implement currency risk management strategies in collaboration with

the Finance Manager

  • Monitor and forecast currency rate movements and assess the potential impact of financial performance
  • Assisting in the preparation of financial reports, forecasts, and budgets. Creating financial statements, cash flow projections, and budget variance analyses to track financial progress
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and management information to better understand business performance and the key drivers behind it
  • Prepare internal and external reports for senior management as required
  • Assisting with the year-end accounts to audited stage including liaison with auditors
  • Covering duties of staff when on annual leave

Requirements

If you are looking to gain experience in a fast-moving and changing environment and are ready for a challenge this could be an excellent opportunity. The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Be a qualified Accountant (qualified by experience candidates will also be considered).
  • Advanced Excel skills proficient in using Excel functions and features, such as pivot tables, lookups, if statements, and charts and graphs
  • Level of skill, and knowledge in using Power BI software
  • Experience in managing currency and exchange rate risks is desirable
  • Knowledge of accounting software Sage 50 and Sage Payroll
  • Sage 50 Payroll or similar software experience is desirable
  • Financial modelling skills for forecasting and budgeting and scenario planning
  • Good understanding of financial reporting standards, tax, and VAT legislation
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other team members, departments and senior management to achieve the company’s goals and objectives
